Summer Coral Nails

¡Hola todos!

Anyone that knows me understands that I have a large nail polish obsession. I paint my nails once a week and I HATE when my nails are chipped. It is a bit compulsive, I understand, but I just can’t stop. I just love the feeling of a fresh coat of nail polish. I can’t help myself, hehe!

I usually attempt some sort of nail art, and this is what I have come up with this week.

Summer Coral

Summer Coral without flash

I will call her “Summer Coral” and I will love her forever. Haha actually this was a super easy nail art look, and I only used 3 colors, which is a pretty low number for me! I was inspired by my favorite summer dress (that I wear almost everyday lol), and I really liked the result. I just threw on 2 coats of the pretty F21 polish (it has a nice subtle gold shimmer and pretty coral finish), then did the teal Sally Hansen on my accent finger. Then I put a few stripes using my striping pen and finished it off with a few dots, using my dotting tool. Pretty easy, right? All it takes is a steady hand and a little patience. I like how the accent hand looks kind of like little berries, or little flowers.

Polish Used:

Sally Hansen in “Blue Me Away”

Love 21/Forever 21 “Pink”

Kiss Nail Art Striping Pen in “Black”

Ouidad Curl Souffle Review

Hellloooooo people!

I have returned to the blogosphere! I had taken a lengthy hiatus from the lovely world of blogging because I was thousands of miles away in the enchanting seas of Europe. Now, I realize that this experience was no excuse to stop blogging, but I was just so dang busy. Never to fear, I am back with lots of exciting new products to review and talk about. Also, keep an eye out for an “International Curls” post for tips on curl care and maintenance while traveling. Here is a pic of my friends and I in France.

I’m the curly one in the middle. A good day indeed

Now, on to the important issue of the day… this review! I was beyond excited to see that I had received a new product from Ouidad when I returned home from my trip. Their new line of “Curl Recovery” products have left my hair feeling soft and hydrated, so I was extra jazzed to see another new edition to the line. The newest edition to my ever-growing family of hair products is called Curl Defining Style Souffle

Whoooooaaaaaa girls! I have to say that I luurrrvveee this product. I love the creamy consistency and yummy sweet smell of this curl souffle. It made my hair shiny and soft and really curly. I have very dry ends because I don’t feeling like parting with length (even though I really should). My hair drink this stuff up like crazy. I used it in conjunction with the Ouidad Whipped Curls Styling Primer and Ouidad Cleansing Oil, which are both part of the Curl Recovery Line. This was a winning combo. I loved running my fingers through my moisturized curls and they way bounced freely in the wind (Ok that was a little corny!) Check them out!

So happy with my haiirrrr

In lieu of this phenomenal new addition to my hair care fam, I have decided to make a rating system, so you can see how these products stack up against each other. The categories are things that I always look for in products, and will be rated from 1 to 10.

Hold/Control, Softness, Frizz, Smell, Consistency

I would rate the Curl Defining Styling Souffle like this:

Hold/Control: 8

Softness: 7

Frizz Control: 8

Smell: 7

Consistency: 8

I hope that rating system has shown you guys how much I love this product. So much definition and bounce in my usually dry and unruly curls.

Check out some more pics below (straight flexin’ for the camera haha). But come on guys, you know when you have that magically awesome hair day, you take allllll these pics to document the momentous occasion.

Neon Geometric Nails

Hey ladies and gents! I have been missing summer in a major way lately. What I would give to throw on an airy hot pink dress and slip on some chunky wedges. Buuutt that is not exactly possible at the moment, because right now the Pacific Northwest is doing what it does best… RAINING! So it looks like I will just have to settle for some bright and crazy geometric nails to keep the blues at bay.

I had a hard time deciding on colors, so my hands are a bit different.

Right Hand Geometric

Right Hand Geometric

This is the hand I like the most. Surprisingly, it is my right hand! That is usually my “challenge hand”.

My iffy Left Hand Colors

My iffy Left Hand Colors

I liked the idea of my left hand, but was not too satisfied with my execution. But they are still are kinda cute.

Steps to achieve this look:

1) Paint nails white. TIP: Wait until white dries for about 20-30 minutes before applying nail tape and neon nail polishes. This ensures no smudging.

2) Apply Nail Tape where you would like your white lines to show

3) Paint inside the nail tape lines.

4) Remove nail tape. TIP: Remove the tape while neon nail polish is still wet, the drier/thicker it gets, the harder it is to get a nice clean line.

5) Finish with a top coat. I’m a Seche Vite snob myself!

Glitter Accent Nail:

-Use brush on nail glue to coat nail, then sprinkle on glitter of choice (I used loose glitter, but you could also use a few coats of glitter polish)

Neon Pinks and Such

Colors: “Pink” by Sinful Colors, “Orange Knockout (Neon)” by China Glaze, “Flip-Flop Fantasy” by China Glaze, “Hard to Get” by Sally Hansen, Sparkle Effects Glitter by Sally Girl

Which side do you think looks better? Left hand or right hand? Let me know!

Valentine’s Day Review- Ouidad

Hey mamas! I wanted to share a few great Ouidadproducts that I had the privilege of testing out! I had to this review today, because I am in LOVE with this wonderful product combo. I reviewed the Curl Recovery Cleansing Oil and the Whipped Curls Daily Conditioner and Primer.

Let me start by saying that I have very damaged hair. I am a full-time student and sometimes I just roll out of bed and go to class, without doing much to my hair. I also am in desperate need of a hair cut. The problem is that I am too cheap to pay the $100 plus for a good one. Soooooo don’t judge the ridiculous state of my hair! It is a hot mess, but I am working on taking better care of it.

Here is a picture of my ratty nest before I applied these products

Pre-Products

Yikes! Needless to say, I needed some serious hair therapy! Luckily my friends at Ouidad hooked it up. They sent me these jewels, and I am eternally grateful. Here’s what they sent.

Ouidad Products: Cleansing Oil & Whipped Curls Conditioner

Ouidad Products: Cleansing Oil & Whipped Curls Conditioner

Both of these products are supposed to used while your hair is wet, so I used them in the shower. First up was the Cleansing Oil. I applied it to my scalp and all through my hair and I determined… WE ARE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER!! Seriously. I never want to be without this stuff. It is so rich and provides an amazing lather. For all of you naughty shampoo addicts who love to lather up your curls with that mess, you need this in your life. You can saturate your hair with the Cleansing Oil worry free! Instead of stripping your hair from its natural oils, it replenishes the oils and leaves your hair feeling super clean. Say whaaat? Yes, girls. I would not lie to you, it makes your hair feel sensationally clean and nourished.

After the Cleansing Oil, I rinsed it out and applied the Whipped Curls Conditioner. My hair was already feeling all loved and full of joy, but the Whipped Curls took it to a whole ‘nother level of ecstasy. It was so creamy and delicious, it felt great on my ratty ends. It can also be used a primer for products, which is like so cool because I love using tons of products on my mane. After these using these products my curls were feeling very expensive and pampered, so I was happy girl.

Here’s a shot of my post-product hair
